LoanMax Proud To Sponsor Chicago’s Cocineros Unidos

August 8, 2008 - Chicago, Illinois - In 1980 a small group of Puerto Rican business and community leaders came together to form an organization that would represent the interest of the small businesses that used Humboldt Park as a vehicle to create economic opportunity while benefiting the people who used the Park for recreational purposes. Since the creation of the Cocineros Unidos of Humboldt Park, the group has grown to more than 30 members.

For the past 27 years the Cocineros Unidos of Humboldt Park have held an annual event that celebrates the music, culture, traditions and cookery of Puerto Rico. On August 3, 2008, we were part of the 27th Annual Festival that highlights the largest known monument recognizing the many contributions Puerto Ricans have made to the US. The festival is also a celebration of the extraordinary work that the community is doing to stabilize people in the surrounding communities known as Humboltdt Park, West Town and Logan Square in Chicago. The Fiestas de los Cocineros is the 3rd largest event held in the Puerto Rican community during the Chicago summer season.
